Myocardial Tissue Characterization Reference Values

Compare published healthy myocardial native T1, T2, T2* and ECV measurements by scanner vendor and field strength. Age-group trends are displayed only when directly supported by a published table. Manufacturer and Tesla are optional filters; original SCMR 2025 sequence-specific summary values remain in the table.

Values behind the plot

When age-group data are available, the table shows those values. Otherwise it retains the SCMR 2025 acquisition-specific summary values without assigning a fictitious age.

Interpretation notes

Normal mapping values depend on field strength, scanner vendor, pulse sequence and ROI. Values from different protocols cannot be assumed interchangeable; the comparisons below preserve the original results without averaging across methods.

Native T1, T2 and T2* are reported in milliseconds; ECV is reported as a percentage. Some contributing studies reported medians and quartiles rather than means and standard deviations. Those measurements remain labeled as medians instead of being treated as means.

Where the review does not identify a scanner manufacturer (for example, some T2* studies), the data are grouped as Vendor not reported rather than assigned to Philips, Siemens or GE.

SCMR source citations are retained in the table. Age-specific series also use [2] Xu et al. (2023), Siemens 3T T1/T2, Table 4; and [3] Lupi et al. (2026), Siemens 1.5T corrected global T2*, Table 4. ECV remains an overall protocol-level reference until verified age-specific values are available.
